Ms. Wong, our fabulous Art teacher, has partnered with the fundraising company Square 1 Art to provide a great opportunity for families to purchase unique keepsakes featuring the artwork of their child. A percentage of the proceeds go to support the PS 516 PTA. Individual student catalogs were sent home last week. Families can order online, through the paper order form or by phone. All orders are due by March 19, 2018. Please reach out to Ms. Wong if you have any questions.

The PS 516 PTA will host the Scholastic Book Fair form March 12-16. This is a great opportunity for families to buy new books and for teachers to receive free books for their classroom libraries. It is also a big fundraiser for our school.
There are several ways you can help: 1) Volunteer! We need help with set up, clean up and of course, running the book fair. Sign up for a shift here or contact the Book Fair Chairs for more information. 2) Visit the Book Fair! The Book Fair will be open during school hours for students on March 13, 14 and 16. A schedule will be sent home in your child's folder. Please send your child with money on their shopping day to purchase books. You can also visit the Book Fair during Parent Teacher Conferences and after school (depending on volunteer availability).  Our school has the opportunity to switch from the regular school lunch menu to a healthier, alternative menu. The alternative menu has more whole foods and vegetables, fewer processed options, and more food that is prepared from scratch on-site. The cold lunch options remain the same, and fruit will always be offered. A sample menu can be found here:

During the trial period, the school staff members will be monitoring to assess how the students like the alternative menu. The School Leadership Team needs your feedback.
