Rooted in Sunset Park, Growing Together
P.S. 516: Sunset Park Avenues Elementary School is a small, public elementary school that opened in September 2013. We serve around 400 students, from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
PS516K Sunset Park Avenues operates across two buildings K-557 and K-333 to ensure that students learn in spaces that are secure, warm, and designed to support their developmental needs. Our English–Spanish dual-language program promotes strong literacy skills, cultural awareness, and academic growth in both languages, preparing students to succeed in an increasingly globalized world.
We are especially proud of the strong foundation we provide to our Pre-K students. Our Pre-K program focuses on social–emotional development, early literacy, early math skills, and creative exploration. Young learners receive dedicated support that helps them build independence, confidence, and a love for learning from their very first school experience. Our classrooms offer hands-on activities, structured routines, and nurturing guidance to ensure that families feel secure and that children feel happy and cared for each day.
At PS516 Sunset Park Avenues, we are committed to offering a well-rounded education. Students receive high-quality instruction in Art, Physical Education, STEAM, and Dance, giving them opportunities to develop creativity, confidence, problem-solving skills, and healthy habits. These programs enrich the academic curriculum and allow students to explore their interests while building essential life skills.
