Students Share Book Recommendations during Morning Meeting

In January and February, students shared their favorite books with the rest of the class. Each student bravely said their favorite book and gave 1-3 reasons in front of the rest of the class. Then, the rest of the class had the chance to ask the speaker questions to learn more about the opinions and reasons.

Week of January 18:

Connie: One of my favorite books is Frog and Toad are Friends. I love this book because it is funny. I highly recommend this funny book!

Sunny: Why do you like this book?
Connie: Because it’s funny.

Diana: Why is the book so funny?
Connie: Because this (opens up to bathing suit page).

Zhi Xiang: What is your favorite part?
Connie: It is silly that Toad wears a bathing suit.

Anson: My favorite book is Peanut Butter and Cupcake because it is so funny.

Gavin: Did you read this book with Ms. Kelly?
Anson: Yes I did.

Connie: Why did you choose this book?
Anson: So funny.

Athena: What is your favorite part?
Anson: Peanut butter wanted friends.

Gavin: One of my favorite book is One by Kathryn Otoshi because I love the story. One example is I love then the One just come and change the color into a number. I highly recommend you read this book!

Jacob: Can you give me more information about the book?
Gavin: Red turns smaller and smaller because One comes.

Rachel: What’s your favorite part?
Gavin: When One came.

James: How do you feel when you read this book?
Gavin: Glad.

Zhi Xiang: I think the book The Book with No Pictures is the best book because it is so funny. I highly recommend you read this funny book.

Joel: What part is your favorite?
Zhi Xiang: Glurrr-- because he makes so many silly sounds.

Justin: Why did you choose this book?
Zhi Xiang: Because it’s so funny.

Donovan: When did you first hear about this book?
Zhi Xiang: During read aloud.

Gabo: I think Not a Box is the best book because the bunny makes the box everything. I highly recommend you read this great book!

Rawan: What is your favorite page?
Gabo: When Bunny said it’s NOT NOT NOT a box.

Jacob: What is the problem in the story?
Gabo: The book keeps asking the bunny what is the box? (shows an example)

Waseem: Why do you like this book?
Gabo: Because it’s so funny.
